What's the best over the counter medicine you can take for a sinus infection?

My mother has had this over a week now. She went to the doctor Wednesday and they gave her a shot and a prescription. Me on the other hand does not have health insurance because being part time at my job I don't get enough hours. I've been taking DayQuil and NyQuil cold & flu gelcaps, it seems to help but not much.
